8TH GRADE ESL COURSE

WAS A 8TH GRADE STUDENT
Had just moved to a new country and was taking an ESL (English as a second language) course in the 8th grade. He was struggling a lot with the classes and had previously tried numerous private tutors but he didn’t see any improvement. He needed to greatly improve his English proficiency levels or he would not be able to pass the school year. His parents were also getting worried since they knew he had to improve immediately. They then decided to call Aisha’s Tutoring.
WE STARTED THE TUTORING PROCESS BY
TAKING AN ASSESSMENT TEST
This really helped in identifying the major concerns for Michael. Through the tests, we determined that although his pronunciation and vocabulary were good his grammar and spelling were lacking. After we knew what we had to majorly focus on we devised a customized plan so we could focus more on the grammar and spelling to improve them significantly.

The stats below show that by practicing grammar and spelling with our tutor regularly, Michael was able to improve those scores within his class assignments and on our assessment tests. This showed us and the parents that we were on the right track and our tutoring was benefiting the student.

Since Michael was making a lot of progress and we were regularly updating the parents with his assessments, they decided to continue the tutoring for the rest of the school year. Michael managed to raise his English proficiency by 2 levels by the end of the year. He made exponential improvement with our one on one tutoring program which is why his case was a great success story for us.

And he hopes to do even better in his upcoming school year. He wishes to do well in the ACT exam and has already started prep classes for them.
